Renew in 3 Easy Steps!

Most commonly asked questions about license renewal.

  • SHORT ANSWER: October 31st every 2 years.

The renewal cycle mandated by the state of Florida is a date upon which all cosmetology licensure must be renewed. The date falls on October 31st every 2 years. If this is your first renewal, you must have your continuing education completed by the end of the next renewal cycle (even if the date falls before 2 years from your initial licensing, at the discretion of the state.) Your renewal period will not be more than 2 years from your licensure date.

If you miss your renewal period, your license will become inactive.

After your first renewal period, your license will renew every 2 years from that renewal date.

  • Your license will become inactive until you complete your continuing education requirement and pay your renewal fee to the state. If it has been 2 or more years since your license has become delinquent, it will become null and void and you will not be able to renew.

  • After successful completion of 36 question exam (PASSING GRADE 75%), we submit your information to the state within 72 hours. A state approved certificate (PDF) of licensure is provided immediately upon successful completion. Please allow approximately 7 - 10 days (depending on volume) for the state to update their records. To verify your status, or general questions, contact The Department of Business and Professional Regulation via their website (myfloridalicense.com) or call directly to Customer Contact Center: 850.487.1395.
